Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Updated: Mar 1, 2019

Love to write and hope to compete? Then we think we have something for you.

Every year, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards host a competition for writers and artists. It is a national competition that we have both entered for the past two years, and we highly recommend it for anyone interested in seeing their work judged against those of other students. Any student can enter their work and have it judged regionally and nationally. Regional works can receive an Honorable Mention, the third highest award, a Silver Key, the second highest award, or a Gold Key, the highest award. Those stories that earn a Gold Key are then judged at the national level. The winners at the national level get to attend the Awards Ceremony in New York City in June. Some works are even selected for publication!

If you're interested in entering the competition, create an account on the website and have your teacher do the same. For details about submission dates, please check the website with the link proved below:

Good luck and happy writing!
